happy new year!

ok ok...so it's not january 1st....
but i DID have my first day back to school at work.
i have to admit that i was excited.
but it was all too overwhelming.
especially with last week and all the district, school staff, and departmental meetings.
it's actually my first FIRST WEEK.

for those of you who don't know...i got hired at Otay Ranch HS' choir director last year, smack-dab in the middle of the year.
that came with its own struggles, being that the students were expecting their "Mama B" to come back from medical leave.
she turned in her letter of resignation, without any warning to the principal and to her students.
so the it was quite challenging.
but i have to admit that starting off the year with new students, new schedule, an eye infection, no cellphone, printer and internet issues, having to travel to a different location for 3rd period, no key to the theatre (which is where i have my 3rd period), and only ONE school copier machine has presented unsuspected challenges as well. what a really long sentence that was. hahha

but i still, despite the challenges and obstacles i've faced within the last week, am really really excited for this year.
i have made many goals for myself, the Vocal Arts program as a whole, and for each of the choirs individually.
and i can't wait to delve into the music...the theory...the choreo (which i still have to make hahaha)...EVERYTHING!
it really helps to know that the Administration at ORHS is so supportive of our choirs...
AND so is the Director of the Board of Trustees!!! i recently had the pleasure of talking to her 1on1. that's created such an impact in my thinking.
i'm in shock still. but i'm gonna use all of it...as momentum to keep me going, to push me forward.

i've decided...
- that i'm gonna have a blast of a weekend.
- that no matter how blazing the sun and weather will be in Vegas this weekend, that i will live every ounce of the last wkend of my summer to its maximum capacity!
- that i will try my best not to crawl back into the hole i was stuck in
- that i will no longer make plans
- that i will audition for American Idol on July 30th. hahha. wish me luck.
- that the upcoming school year will be better, because i'm gonna make it better!
- that i want a child/children someday. the carrying. the nursing. the child-rearing. the whole shebang
- that i need to search for a "healthy joyce" and not necessarily a "happy joyce".
- that i am gonna go to Adoration now.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

I had an amazing day!
Spent time with family.
The whole day actually.
Played volleyball and i sucked.
Played badminton and i kicked butt!!!
But my right arm is so sore.
Even played with my left-hand...sucked.
hahhaa
Ate a grip of food... carne asada, burgers, bbq ribs, bbq corn, watermelon, canteloupe, bts cake.
Gluttony galore!!! HORRIBLE!!!

It's crazy.. how much my cousins have grown.
I still can't believe it... *sigh*

ps-i'm soooo excited for kirs' vegas trip!!! yay!!!!!!!
